Areas of Expertise
Dizziness, Vertigo & Imbalance
Dizziness, vertigo & imbalance are symptoms rather than diagnoses. There are many different causes, and therefore having an accurate diagnosis is key to effective management. I am highly skilled and experienced in the assessment, investigation and management of these debilitating symptoms. During a consultation, you can expect a very detailed history and a comprehensive specialist examination will be conducted. Next, I will advise on an appropriate management plan. This can include arranging for any required investigations (such as Blood Tests, Imaging, and/or highly specialised Vestibular Function Tests, which I have access to) and starting an effective, tailored treatment plan.
Hearing Loss
Hearing loss can have a significant effect on someone’s quality of life. Additionally, there are a wide range of causes and there may be associated conditions. I therefore offer a comprehensive assessment to patients with hearing loss & listening difficulties. After a detailed history & examination, I will arrange for and review specialist Hearing Tests, clearly explaining the test results and how the results relate to the difficulties experienced. I can arrange for further appropriate investigations to try to find the cause of the hearing loss, and I will advise on appropriate management.
Tinnitus
Tinnitus can be an incredibly distressing and intrusive symptom. In fact, there are many different triggers and perpetuating factors. I will take a detailed history and conduct a thorough specialist examination. Next, I will arrange for and review detailed Audiological Testing, clearly explaining the results. If appropriate, I will then arrange for any necessary further medical investigations. I am adept at explaining why we believe Tinnitus occurs, and will take time counselling on relevant factors. I implement a holistic approach to Tinnitus Management, thereby providing effective, patient-centred care. Although there is currently no ‘cure’ for Tinnitus, it can be managed.
